The house we renovate is a white wooden house built in the early twenties. The roof is made of beautiful chiffer tiles. It has a sunporch and many windows so the light floats beautifully through the rooms. When the sun sets we have a fantastic light show on our livingroom walls. We call it our private cinema.
We were looking for a place where we could realize some of our plans and projects; an organic garden, an atelier for S, a room for me to write in, a big kitchen for our veggie experiments, and a factory for smallscale production of something good. We wanted to be able to build up a sound studio, an organic bakery and plant a walnut tree if we felt like it. We wanted to have the open sea within reach. Last winter we found our house. It had everything of the above, or at least a potential of getting there.
So what we have is a frame at least. We have lots of space and charm both inside and outside, and we can hear the sea roaming in the background. It is a start. There are no straight lines, the paint is falling off everywhere, we do not yet have a kitchen or a real bathroom. Yet we love our house. It has a special mood. The first time I was here, I found ladybugs on the window sill. It felt like ours from the first time we saw it.

Your last sentence is very true. Guess this must be the feeling you have when you're going to buy a house. And all your fantastic plans about it.... sounds like you really love were you are and it does inspire you.
Hey- you can hear the sea. Sigh.
Sounds like an idyllic life! Your roof tiles are so nice. Ladybugs on windowsills...nice too.

I'm happy you've found your dream house! As for me and my husband, we're still looking for one... Those pictures of your home have such a calm mood - very beautiful. And that roof is lovely! I wish you sunny summer days!

your ideas for possible uses are super too!
what a lovely house to become your home. i'm so happy to have stumbled upon your blog. my kindred spirit! making, nurturing, recycling bits of fabric, chasing a 2 yr old...if only i had the dreams to cook as well. i will surely visit you again! the little shirt for summer parties is absolutely sweet. enjoy your light-filled abode.
Your house seems like a real treasure! Roof tiles are beautiful and the windows too.
How wonderful Line that you have found your nest. I look forward to seeing how it moves and changes...
hej, may i ask where in norway you are living? me and my two boys are thinking about leaving for norway in october and as both of us are architects we are thinking about oslo, but i would prefer a wonderful little town; or is it in norway like in finland that families are forced to move out of town to find an adequate and livable place to live?
thanks, and greet you from helsiniki.
and yes, your plans seem to be like a dream and your house part of it.
Finding a house and making a home of it is such a fulfilling and rewarding project. It's good that your place promises to fulfill so many of your dreams.
And I saw your comment on Hannas blog and really like the idea of us three reading the same book. A virtual book circle...
